Masterclass 1: Back to Basics of Laser Diffraction

When: 30th January - 15:00 CET - 45 mins
Where: Virtual

This masterclass is the first in a Masterclass series covering everything you want to know about measuring particle size by laser diffraction. We’ll start by introducing some of the basic principles of particle sizing and then look at how the technique of laser diffraction is used to measure particle size. To do this we will take a look at the process of making a laser diffraction measurement, how samples are prepared and introduced into the instrument, and what data is recorded. Finally, we’ll look at the results that you get from a laser diffraction measurement and what these can tell you about your product or process.

Expert Speakers:

  • Paul Senior - Product Manager Micro-Materials
  • Benjamin Lynch - Application Specialist
  • Hannah Buckland - Application Specialist

Masterclass 2: Perfecting Method Development and Transfer – Practical Tips and Expert Insights

When: 27th February - 15:00 CET - 45 mins
Where: Virtual

In this Masterclass we’ll cover the practical aspects of method development and how to achieve successful method transfer.

Our experts will discuss the recommended processes for method development when working with liquid and dry powder dispersions. In many cases, method development is straightforward and minimal work is required. But increasingly, samples of interest are becoming more complex with more challenging behaviors, so robust and rigorous investigations are required. We will also cover how to follow the recommended process to optimize existing methods and maximize the likelihood of a successful method transfer.

Expert Speakers:

  • Dr John Ddungu - Senior Applications Specialist
  • Dr Jennifer Burt - Senior Applications Specialist - Physico-Chemical Characterisation
  • Paul Senior - Product Manager Micro-Materials

Masterclass 3: Troubleshooting - What to do when things go wrong

When: 27th March - 15:00 CET - 45 mins
Where: Virtual

However good the methods we develop are, there is still the potential for something to go wrong! In this masterclass we will cover what you can do if you are presented with results that are not what you expect. We will show you how to review measurement data to determine if the measurements have been carried out correctly, and to recognize common errors.
